The sounds and art are still familiar to the original, with the new paving styles, raised walkways, and additional chunks o' art fitting in with the earlier additions without veering too far from the original formula. Or, if you will, destroy and wreak havoc on. While the parks are perfectly precise products of park posterity, their still fun to mess around with, or to learn from. On top of the new scenarios available to you in Loopy Landscapes, you'll also be able to mess around in real-life parks, with specific goals.

It's definitely more pointed than the normal Roller Coaster Tycoon objectives, but it works perfectly within Loopy Landscapes scenario-based angle. Yet another scenario has you set with the goal to build ten different coasters within a park each above a specific rating. One of the oddest scenarios gives you five different coasters, each partially built in and out of a mountain - with your goal to finish each coaster with rating of at least 6.00. Fall under that rating at any time, and you lose. You might have unlimited money, but the restriction of a minimum park rating. While Corkscrew Follies had you building a park over a freeway and things of that nature, Loopy Landscapes puts you on a set of ice floes, drastically limiting how much space you've got for rides, but giving you some fantastic coaster options for those of you that have a lot of underground experience. The scenarios are really where Loopy Landscapes shines, especially for those of you that have worked your way through every loop and corkscrew in the original game and the expansion pack. Never mind the fact that my roller coaster, "Do Not Ride if Pregnant," was a whopping $5.00 per ride. The visitors to historic "Vinland American USA 2000 Corporation of America American Theme Park in the USA", located in beautiful Crater Lake, seemed to enjoy the fact that their cotton candy was kept at a moderate $1.00 at every stand in the park. Of course, if you've got a hot ride that's bringing in the soft drink sales, you probably want to charge a bit more, but it's a great option when you're getting your park up and running. But who's going to say no to a full-featured paint editor that allows you to tweak nearly every color on a ride? And for those of you that got sick of having to tweak the prices on every burger stand or info booth, now you can have changes spread over every stand in a region. just not some of the ones that I would have personally liked. There have been a few changes to the interface, by the way. but add all of those things together, along with the fact that this includes Corkscrew Follies, and the fact that you just can't get your coaster fix anywhere else for a while, and you've got yourself a must-buy product. Alright, so maybe the Jet Skis are pretty much exactly like the rowboats, and maybe a T-Shirt stand isn't exactly the sort of thing that gets you out of bed in the morning. The good part about Loopy Landscapes is that it doesn't fix those problems either, but instead gives you new environments like Arctic islands, desert and medieval schemes, new rides and shops, as well as a whole new set of scenarios to tackle.

The good news with Loopy Landscapes is that it doesn't fix those problems, either. The latest expansion pack not only gives me Alton Towers, and a few other real-life parks to play with, but it takes the expansion concept much farther than Corkscrew Follies by giving you weirder, wilder, and more acute scenarios to focus your now-honed coaster building skills on.Ĭorkscrew Follies was a must-buy for anyone that was a fan of the series, but still, it felt a little small, especially given that you were probably hoping for a solution to some of the nastier interface problems that plagued the original game (what? I can't just fix that one part of the track without deleting half the ride?).

Being that I was poor, and being that Spain offered beautiful residents and beaches, I opted for Majorca instead - but I've always had Alton Towers in my heart, even if that heart was spent drinking Sangria and getting lost in Palma with about 30 cents to my name. When I was 18 I stayed in England for a few months, up in Norfolk, and while I was pretty low on funds, I tried my best to make it to Alton Towers, a big fat amusement park that I'd heard was incredible.
